Equatorial Forest

Equatorial Forest

Equatorial Forest DRC AB is a Swedish forestry company that operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo (“DRC”). Equatorial Forest owns the rights to exploit two forest concessions in the western part of the Equateur Province of the DRC. Together the concessions cover an area of 451,530 hectares of tropical forest, half of which is considered to be exploitable. The contracts for these concessions run for a period of 25 years and are renewable.

There are more than forty different types of wood in the concessions, out of which seven to twelve species are considered species of high value, and thus suitable for harvest and sale. Equatorial Forest’s vision is to become the largest exporting producer of tropical wood in the DRC, as well as the most appreciated producer by local institutions and communities.
